CulturalICH
Inscribed in 2023 (18.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Producing piña, a highly-regarded textile woven from pineapple leaf fibres, starts with the harvesting of pinya Bisaya and extracting its fibres by hand. Afterward, they are weighed using a local unit of measurement before being woven on a handloom. This intangible cultural heritage is safeguarded and transmitted through the Schools of Living Traditions (SLT) programme.
